Can sex help with healing after tragedy
Can Sex Help with Healing After Tragedy?
Now, can sex help with healing after tragedy in the marriage or after tragedy in the family? Can sex actually help with healing? The thing about it is that there is no right or wrong way to grieve. There is no right or wrong way to mourn. Although we know that there are some ways you may grieve and mourn that will be detrimental to you, I am speaking generally here. And we understand that there are exceptions here and there, so you should know the difference in what I am saying.
Sex as a Source of Connection
Sex can be healing for some people, but for others it only works when both hearts feel ready and when it is coming from a place of love and not from a place of pressure. For some couples, the answer is yes—sex can actually help with healing after a tragedy. This is because sexual intimacy can create connection, warmth, and a sense of being heard. But for some other people, that is not how it is at all.
When Intimacy Feels Confusing
For some, it is confusing. It is simply too confusing. They do not understand why people should be having sex in such a moment.
Honouring Different Responses to Grief
We are supposed to be grieving; we are supposed to be mourning. So it all depends on how you and your spouse respond to the situation and on how people are able to be gracious with each other. It requires an understanding that we are not all going to respond in the same way, and an ability to see each person’s response as valid.
