Can Sex Help with Healing After Tragedy?
Now, can sex help with healing after a tragedy in the marriage, after tragedy in the family? Can sex actually help with healing? The thing about it is that there's no right and wrong way to grieve, right? There's no right and wrong way to mourn. Although we know that there are some ways you may grieve and mourn that will be detrimental to you, I'm speaking generally right now. We understand there are exceptions here and there, so you should know the difference in what I'm saying.
See, sex can be healing for some people, but for others it only works when both hearts feel ready and when it comes from a place of love, not from a place of pressure. So for some couples, the answer is yes — sex can actually help them heal after a tragedy. Sexual intimacy can create connection, warmth and a sense of being heard. But for other people, that's not how it is.
It can be confusing. People don't understand why others should be having sex while they are supposed to be grieving, while they are supposed to be mourning. It all depends on how you and your spouse respond and how gracious you are with one another. Understand that we will not all respond the same way — each reaction is valid.
